Day Thirteen - A Prayer for Creation

O Lord, we thank you for the wonderful world you have made.

For the incredible variety of plants and animals,

For the balance of the seasons, of day and night,

For the bright colours and the interesting sounds,

For the variety of tastes and smells and the many different textures we can touch.

Thank you for all that surrounds us and for the opportunities you offer us as we live in your world.

Lord, we know that so often we are not careful with your creation,

We take it and use it and abuse it without a thought,

We waste so much and so often think only of our own selfish needs and not the needs of others or of the world,

We don’t tread lightly on the earth but stomp all over it instead.

Lord change our minds and our hearts,

Make us mindful of the wonders all around us and make us careful to treat your world with respect and care,

Make us aware that we can be the change that is so desperately needed,

Make us good stewards of all you have given us so that we can hand over a world worth having to the generations that come after us.

Lord, help us to treat all your creation decently and compassionately,

Help us to see the wonder and glory of all your creation,

Help us to see your reflection in all we see and experience,

Help us to be still in the world and truly know that you are God.

For we ask all our prayers in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
