MINDFULNESS

The term Mindfulness is becoming part of everyday language. It refers to the process of being aware of what is happening, whilst it is happening without preference It’s the ability to “savour and enjoy the moment” without becoming preoccupied with the future or the past. From time to time the Church runs a free eight week Mindfully Based Living Course from the Mindfulness Association led by a member of the congregation who is a qualified Mindfulness teacher. This course is an aid to overcoming worry and anxiety which can be so disabling and can creep up on us and overwhelm our daily lives. This is a secular non-religious course which has been taught widely in education, industry and commerce. On the first Thursday of the month at 7pm we hold a Christian Mindfulness evening. These evenings are open to people of the Christian Path and other spiritual journeys and build in Biblical Readings and insights from the long tradition of Christian Meditation and thought along side Mindfulness exercises. Whether you are new to mindfulness or are an old hand in the discipline you are welcome at these evenings.
