Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9 (NIVUK)
The Congregational Federation has a challenge for churches and individuals each month printed on its calendar. For April it’s about prayer. Try Praying is a Scottish organisation that is helping people to pray. Believe it or not lots of people don’t know how to pray and the resources from Try Praying are there to help and encourage and there are books for adults, young people and children.

I also have a few packs in the office if you want one.
Today I want you to pray for an opportunity to pray with someone, to be bold and to ask if they would like you to pray - be it in the middle of the street or in a quiet space. We are good at saying, “I’ll pray”, but let’s do it. Let’s help people break down barriers about praying, teaching them that simple honest prayers are the best.
Catherine Booton and I were walking through Nottingham city centre just before Easter. We met this young guy who was stopping people and inviting them to his church Easter services and giving out beautiful invitations. We chatted to him and then prayed there and then together for his church, for our churches, for boldness to share the good news. Be bold - the worst thing that can happen is someone says no.
Let’s pray
Father God, thank you that I can talk to you anywhere, you are always there ready to listen no matter where I am or how I feel - you know my thoughts, when I sit, when I rise, all my ways.
I pray you will lead me today to pray with someone, be it a stranger or a friend, in public or private, in person or over the phone. Give me wisdom to say, “Can I pray for you now”, and let me be an encouragement, a witness for you Jesus.
I am expectant for the miracles you will do.
In the mighty name of name of Jesus I pray. Amen
Yvonne Campbell
