Day 27 - Welcome To Wherever You Are

Today is noted as being National Weed Appreciation Day in the United States of America. For the gardeners amongst us we probably don’t know what there is to appreciate about weeds! After all they are what we battle against on a seemingly daily basis in the pursuit of making our gardens neat, smart and well kept. They are the things that appear overnight and always in the most prominent position in our flower beds or pots. They are the menace that we don’t seem to be able to get rid of and which if left to their own devices will take over!

But have we ever really thought about weeds? The definition of a weed is nothing more than a plant in the wrong place. Does that make us more mindful of them? After all, they are still part of God’s wondrous creation and have their own part in the life cycle of nature. They have a beauty all of their own and in the right place aren’t a weed at all!

I wonder if you have you ever felt like a weed? Like a plant in the wrong place? It can be easy sometimes to feel like that. Particularly when we feel we are out of step with those around us. When we are sure that we have something to do or share, but others around us see us only as an irritant or something to be uprooted and even thrown away. Today let’s be mindful that even when we feel like a weed, we know that God sees the beauty in each one of us and he welcomes us into his garden. He has a plan for us and we are where he wants us to be at that precise moment. Thank you Lord!
