Talkin' to myself and feelin' old
Sometimes I'd like to quit
Nothin' ever seems to fit
Hangin' around
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down
One of my favourite bands to listen to are The Carpenters. I love the fact that I never dread Monday’s anymore! Do you remember their song “Rainy days and Mondays”?
I have no idea if today it’s raining where you are but whatever the weather and however you feel let’s take this time to connect to God. On Monday’s over this Life-Light series the theme will be Mindfulness. I understand this as being still and listening for God’s voice, feeling God’s presence and being inspired and comforted by him.
This week the focus of our reflections is ‘Justice’. While the song talks about Rainy days and Mondays getting us down, what is actually today getting you down? What is making you shout out, “That’s not fair!!”?
I invite you to read these 2 verses a few times – slowly and prayerfully. Be still and listen to what God wants to share you through them.
“Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of the orphans. Fight for the rights of the widows.”
Isaiah 1 v 17 NLT
“But he's already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It's quite simple: do what is fair and just to your neighbour, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don't take yourself too seriously- take God seriously.”
Micah 6 v 8 Message
Now cry out to God about what is on your heart, what is unfair.
In the world
In your city/town/community
In your life
Be still with God
What is He telling you to do about it?
Is it something you need help with or prayer for – share what God has spoken to you about and maybe we can make a collective difference for justice in our world.
