Let true justice prevail, so you may live and occupy the land that the Lord your God is giving you (Deuteronomy 16:20)
Lord, as we offer our prayers today, we ask that we will always remember the importance of looking to your justice in all we do. May we never take it for granted and always be ready to speak out when we see it flouted in our community and our world.
He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness. (Psalm 9:8)
Thank you, Lord, that you bring your justice to this world. Thank you that we can know you see all and judge all, but you do so in fairness to all. Help us to share that knowledge with other people so that all will seek your justice and fairness for their own lives too.
You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them. (Psalm 10:18)
Lord, we hold before you today those who are not being treated fairly or with justice. Those who find themselves many miles from their homes and are alienated because of how they look or how they speak. Those who are wrongly imprisoned or who are oppressed by those around them or the circumstances they find themselves in. We pray too for those who are acting in a wrong way towards others in their communities, that their hearts will be changed and they will learn new ways.
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. (Proverbs 31:8)
Lord, where we see people being badly treated may we be brave enough to speak up for them. May we never turn our backs on any injustice but always see the situations through your eyes and want to make a difference to the lives of others through our actions.
Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows. (Isaiah 1:17)
Lord, help us to follow your path through the world. Help us to always do what is right and to show your way to a world that doesn’t seem to understand. May we look to find justice for those the world leaves behind or discards as useless or insignificant. We know you offer hope to all. May we reflect that hope to others we meet.
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. (Matthew 5:6)
May we hunger and thirst for justice in all we do. May it be our aim and priority in life. May we seek justice, not just for ourselves and those we love, but for those we don’t know and will never meet, for those we find it harder to love, for those who are different from us and for those who challenge our view of the world.
This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Saviour. (1 Peter 1:1b)
For we ask to grow more like you, to show your justice and fairness to the world and to be part of the solution, so that your Kingdom will truly come. We ask all our prayers in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Amen
