It is my privilege to remind you about one of the great gifts that is available to us all 24/7. It is that gift of ‘hope’. Do you recognize it as a source of daily understanding which can affect us all hour by hour and moment by moment?

Hope is a secure way forward under the guidance of your heavenly father, enacted here on earth by the Lord Jesus Christ and an available source of blessing for the future. We are talking here about today, tomorrow and throughout the whole of our lifespan here on earth.

Because of this hope our loved ones can be enriched, friends and neighbours and one-off casual links can be blessed and feel secure.

Alexander Cruden (1701 – 1770), in his complete concordance lists 122 references towards the permanent benefits of receiving and sharing hope day by day. When writing the epistle to the church of his day, Paul further explains this great gift (Hebrews 11: 1-11). Verse 1 says: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

How is it with you? It is about 70 years since I first moved towards a sense of faith. Faith to be accepted and demonstrated as God in Jesus Christ leads on. Wonderful hope under the guidance of his Holy Spirit.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank you again today for your wonderful gift of hope that can equip us for time and for eternity. Help us day by day to share real hope.

Amen.
