Day Fifty Four - Deep love

The whole sense of Christmas itself is based on the Love of God. Behind God sending His Son, Jesus, into the world in which we now live was His deep love for each person who is also born into that same world.

Yes, you and I are so loved as part of God’s creative genius that His Son, Jesus Christ, started from Bethlehem, lived His life here on earth and ended on Calvary’s cross. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13 NLT).

So, at this Christmastime, people like you and I can show our love to God and love our neighbour as ourselves.

As Mark recorded in his gospel, chapter 12, verses 30 and 31, Jesus said:

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’

‘Living He loved me, dying He saved me,

Buried He carried my sins far away,

Rising He justified freely for ever,

One day He’s coming, O glorious day!’

Our desire, therefore, is to pray diligently and sincerely for other people that they, too, might come to know that Love.
