Thank Crunchie it’s Friday!!
Although if you feel like me every day seems to merge into one at the moment as we seem to have lost our normal routines – I’m constantly asking “what day is it?” but make no mistake today is Friday!
Every Friday the Congregational Federation has encouraged a time of prayer between 12noon and 1pm. A time to stop and talk to God, a time to pray into issues of the day and for Congregational churches and their communities. Since lockdown in March we have also been praying live through Facebook. It has been a time of encouragement and reflection and I know many people have valued that time.
Time is an interesting thing to ponder on isn’t it …. this year, 2020 has been a gift of time in some respects as we have had more time to be outside and walk, more time to read, more time to catch up on box sets, more time to learn a new skill, more time to bake, more time to pray!
Prayer is such a central part to our faith, it’s when we can share our thoughts with God, get frustrated with God, seek Him, gain comfort and strength from Him and simply just rest in Jesus.
I have been challenged recently by the parenting for faith course about how I show my relationship with God to Poppy, my 7 year old daughter – and so now when we talk about what we have done that day I make sure I say I prayed. Poppy’s response is always “what did you pray about?” How wonderful!
I have definitely spent more time praying this year and it has been wonderful to draw closer to Jesus. As we approach the season of advent we start a period of waiting, preparing for Christmas. I am encouraged that so many people are following Life Light this year as resource to help draw closer to God. This is my prayer for you today, that as you continue to follow Life Light God blesses you abundantly so you can bless others. May you draw closer to Him and gain strength from Him – Life Light is time for you and God.
I would love for you to join me today at 12.45pm on the Congregational Federation Facebook page to pray with me.
This year has highlighted to me how precious time is and how we can’t take it for granted, we have missed spending time with people we love, missed time on holiday in the sunshine or missed visiting new places. My role is such a social job and I have missed visiting churches and sharing fellowship with people, but it is still so wonderful that I can pray with you and for you.
Happy Advent!
