Happy Bank Holiday Monday! I hope you had a wonderful time yesterday celebrating Easter, the resurrection of our Saviour Jesus, the promise of eternal life, death is conquered!

Monday is mindfulness. I wonder what part of the story stood out for you yesterday, did God reveal something new to you?

At Assembly this year (10th May) we are launching lots of new resources, including one coordinated by Sara Iles called “Go worship, Go out, Go wonder!”

The revelation of Jesus being alive happened in a garden, in fact, Mary mistakes Jesus for the Gardener. I wonder if today you are reading this reflection outside in the garden or in a park? If not, perhaps take a look out of the window at some green space.

What do you see?

Can you see flowers? Can you see the vibrant green colour or blossom on the trees? Can you see any birds or insects?

What do you notice?

Is the wind blowing? Can you see variants of different shades of green, different textures?

Thank God for his creation, talk to him about what you see and experience.

I still continue to be challenged by the book of Isaiah. The passages and verses in the last third of the book are often described as the most beautiful in the whole Bible. As we are mindful today of Jesus resurrection, and hopefully (weather permitting!) are outside in green space let’s meditate on these verses:

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

You will live in joy and peace.

The mountains on the hills will burst into song and the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow. Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up. These events will bring great honour to the Lord’s name; they will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.””

‭‭Isaiah 55 v 8&9, 12&13 NLT
