Day 13 - New Start Mondays

Writer: Congregational FederationCongregational Federation

Another Monday! Do you ever wonder how it comes round to being Monday again so quick? They say it’s all to do with aging – that the time speeds up. But to be honest, I think Monday have always had that ability to sneak up on me!

Although Monday often gets a bad press (there are, after all, even t-shirts and mugs available for Monday haters and Monday sloths!), research shows that Mondays actually rate as the highest for performance amongst the days of the whole week. We get more done on a Monday than any other day of the week – just imagine!

Monday can also offer the chance for a new start. It gives an opportunity to wipe the slate of the previous week clean and begin again for a chance to get things right this time. That is what our Father God offers us, through Jesus, a chance to make things new and to try again as we strive to walk in God’s way in all we do.

I wonder if we can spend some time today reflecting on these two verses from Romans 4:16-17:

So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing.

What a wonderful God we have that he can create new things out of nothing!!

I pray your week will be a good one and that as we travel through this new week, we will take time to notice (and seize!) all the new opportunities God offers to us!
