Be prepared.

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus. Since its start in May 2016 God has grown Thy Kingdom Come from a dream of possibility into a movement. Christians from 172 countries have taken part in praying ‘Come Holy Spirit’, so that friends and family, neighbours and colleagues might come to faith in Jesus Christ. Why not get involved this year?

Five ideas for your Church this year:

1. Plan a special prayer event during the 11 days. This could be:

• 24/7 prayer or one hour – however long works for you ...

• Prayer stations in the church - you might want to use the Novena artwork and reflections, or other prayer station ideas.

• Prayer walking or creating a prayer labyrinth outside.

• Connect with another church in your area for prayer activities.

2. Order free resources for your churches and schools

For churches there is a beautiful Novena Prayer Journal written by Justin Welby and a small children’s book to inspire all ages in their faith.

3. Commit to praying for 5 people

Encourage church members to commit to praying for 5 people during the 11 days. The TKC app is a great resource to disciple and encourage prayer throughout the 11 days.

4. Reach out into the community

Consider using the postcard prayer project. Connect with your local community by posting a ‘prayer postcard’ into nearby homes and encouraging them to send in prayer requests and visit the local church.

5. Share resources for children and youth

There is a brilliant range of free resources for children and young people.

Maya Angelou wrote in Celebrations: Rituals of Peace and Prayer, “Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good."

A prayer from Dayspring.com:

Lord, we come to you today to pray for our closest friends and companions on this earth. We pray that you give them the strength to overcome their battles, as well as the insight to help us overcome ours. You know, Jesus, that this world can be tough, and we just ask for your guiding hand to work in and through us to say, do and be exactly who you need us to be to guide each other back to your light. Amen
