Day 24 - Be still

A few weeks ago Poppy and I went to see Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker. It was the first time Poppy had been to a ballet and she was mesmerised by it. Not long into the performance Poppy turned to me and said “Mummy when are they going to speak?” “They won’t speak” I said “the music does all the talking and helps us understand the story”.

The focus for a Friday in Lent is prayer but prayer is not just about speaking, it’s also about listening.

I want to encourage you to listen today to a piece of classical music and be still as you do. Listen for Gods voice. Let the Holy Spirit move and dance around you. Be expectant to hear and be obedient to follow.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

John 10:27 NLT

Dear God ,

Help me be still as I sit and listen for your voice.

Speak to me so I can hear you clearly and minister to me, my church, my community and our world.
