Day six - Waith with patience

“For it was by hope that we were saved; but if we see what we hope for, then it is not really hope. For who of us hopes for something we see? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” Romans 8:24-25 (GNT)

I wonder how often we book a holiday in a new place with the words ‘I hope it will be alright’? Or decide to try a new eating place, hoping that it will be as good as the places we usually visit?

It takes courage to journey in hope, but this is often what God calls us to do. The wise men saw a star in the east and decided to follow it, but without knowing where it would lead. The shepherds followed the angel’s bidding without knowing what they would find. They believed there was something worth searching for, and they travelled in hope.

Are we prepared to travel in hope, with no clear picture of what is waiting for us as we journey on, simply following God’s call to us?

The clip I have chosen would not get straight 10’s from the judges, but I love the inclusiveness of it, and the ordinariness of all involved. Everyone follows the light of the star, travelling in hope. And as the elderly woman holds the hand of the baby, we are reminded that Jesus came for all, the hope of the world, light and life for us all.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13
