Every now and then your favourite song - for a spell - change places in your mind for something new. This is the case for me as this newish-to-me song popped into my head and now my new favourite is: Love Songs from heaven are Filling the Earth. I think it is a brilliant worship song from the 1990’s by Noel and Tricia Richards. They have written quite a few amazing worship songs which are all first class material. I find it quite amazing the talent God has given not only them but other modern songwriters. The song version from Noel and Tricia Richards is excellent, but I have found another cracking version of the song by Divine Hymns (divinehymns.com) which suits my style of music. There is no doubt in my mind that God has and will continue to use this worship song for His glory.
I have to say that when I used to look at the church playlist for a Sunday evening and saw this song there, I got a bit excited, but the excitement didn’t stop there. For I’d then look to see who was in the band and if I was down for playing bass guitar for that service. It is a song you can get a good running bass line to and really make the place rock a little. Although I love the music for the song, the words are something else.
Thinking of Easter and what the Lord Jesus did for us on the cross, it is good to know that although there is complete chaos around us, there is still love, there is still hope, and there is still a light shining in this dark world. Although the crucifixion took place so many years ago, make no mistake about it that the cross still stands, the cross still towers, and the blood of Jesus still cleanses eternally the same.
Love Songs from Heaven presents a challenge to us as well, especially in the chorus. We could easily apply the words from the apostle Paul where he says:
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21 ESV.
It is also about us doing our part by telling others about God’s love and living by example.
Love Songs from Heaven
Love songs from heaven are filling the earth
Bringing great hope to all nations
Evil has prospered but truth is alive
In this dark world the light still shines
Nothing has silenced this gospel of Christ
It echoes down through the ages
Blood of the martyrs has made Your church strong
In this dark world the light still shines
For You we live
And for You we may die
Through us may Jesus be seen
For You alone we will offer our lives
In this dark world our light will shine
Let every nation be filled with Your song
This is the cry of Your people
We will not settle for anything less
In this dark world our light must shine
