Day 83 - Keep on keeping on

Six weeks ago, I wrote to you on my first day in my new role and now six weeks later I am doing so again!

It has to be said that the past 6 weeks have gone past in a whirl ... preparation for, delivering of and following up from the residential course weekend, meetings, phone calls, emails, learning new things, being asked difficult questions, getting used to different processes, so much to take in during such a short space of time! And yet I am enjoying the new challenge and thank God for guiding me here and showing me how by being brave and courageous he can do amazing things with us!

So, what about the next 6 weeks, and the 6 after that, and so on, and so on. I know there will be more challenges to face, more joys to celebrate, more choices to make, more discussions to be had, much more of everything no doubt and yet God will still be there asking us to be his light, his salt to those around us. How do we do that? How can we achieve all God is asking of us? How can we live and serve better for him, inspiring those around us to want to know who we know and for them to follow Jesus’ example too?

So let’s focus today on how we can do that. Let’s ask God to help us to be a Resurrection people wherever we find ourselves today. May we be mindful of all that is going on around us and make ourselves ready and willing to bring God’s light and salt to each situation.

Why not begin by spending a few moments reading through these two short passages from the Bible.

Read them slowly, deliberately, more than once and then when you have really got to grips with the words, spend some time praying, asking God what that means to your life, your service, your walk of faith today.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

John 8:12 NLT

“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavour? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.

“You are the light of the world — like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."

Matthew 5:13-16

Wishing you all God’s blessing on this mindful Monday!
