Day 59 - Prayer Walk

On Saturday 13th May, as well as being the Congregational Federation Assembly this year in Taunton, it is also the day Liverpool hosts the Eurovision Song Contest. The churches in Liverpool have planned different services and events including prayer walks along the waterfront and prayer vigils.

I’m reading a great book at the moment called “How to hear God - a simple guide for normal people.” It focuses on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24. A couple who walk and talk, listen and learn as they travel with Jesus.

When was the last time you walked and talked with Jesus? When was the last time you did a prayer walk round your community or prayed for a big event that was happening either in your town or city or country? I know the church in Upper Killay do this every week.

I want to encourage you to walk and pray today, talk to Jesus as if he is walking alongside you and hopefully enjoy some spring sunshine. Pray for the trustees of the Congregational Federation Council who meet this weekend and also for the National Assembly that will happen next month.

“I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

Isaiah 41v 13 NIV

“As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them ... They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭24‬:‭15 & 32‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Dear Lord Jesus,

Take us by our right hand and lead us to where you want us to walk, who you want us to talk to and how we can help.

Teach us to pray and teach us to hear your voice more clearly.

Thank you that you come alongside us and want us to draw close to you.

May your words be an inspiration, so we overflow with your blessings and can bless others.

We pray for the Council meeting this weekend. May everyone experience a movement of your Holy Spirit, give them wisdom and grace.

We pray for the Assembly in Taunton, grant travelling mercies to all who attend, prepare the way before us, fill the space with your Holy Spirit so there is harmony. May it bring you glory. Be with all those who are making preparations and grant favour over the Congregational Federation as we gather to worship, share fellowship and seek your will. Amen.
